DeepL expands into enterprise AI with launch of autonomous agent for corporate tasks

DeepL, known for its AI-based translator, has launched DeepL Agent, a new autonomous AI agent aimed at corporate users. The agent is designed to automate repetitive tasks across departments such as HR and marketing, expanding the company’s scope beyond translation and into the enterprise AI market. According to CNBC, the agent acts as an integrated assistant that understands natural language commands and executes them in the background.

CEO Jarek Kutylowski described DeepL Agent as a logical extension of the company’s translation service, noting its ability to handle tasks like research and moving data between different systems. The tool runs on DeepL’s proprietary large-scale language models, with support from third-party models, giving it a broader range of functions. Unlike some competitors still experimenting with agent-based tools, DeepL is releasing a working product based on existing technology.

With this launch, DeepL enters direct competition with tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT Agent or the recently announced Anthropic’s Claude for Chrome Agent. However, for now it remains to be seen how this new alternative compares, as Kutylowski confirmed that the company has no immediate plans to go public and the product is staying in closed beta.
