Cloudflare launches private beta of its Email Service with transactional email support

Cloudflare has introduced the private beta of their own Email Sending Service, enabling developers to send transactional emails directly from Cloudflare Workers. Combined with the existing Email Routing product, both now form the Cloudflare Email Service, a unified platform for managing inbound and outbound email, with the private beta opening in November.

The service is built for essential use cases like password resets and purchase receipts, prioritizing reliable and fast delivery. It automates configuration of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC DNS records to verify domains and improve deliverability. Emails are distributed through Cloudflare’s global network to reduce latency without requiring regional server management.

Developers can set up Email Sending with a binding in wrangler.jsonc, eliminating the need for API keys and lowering security risks. It integrates with the broader Cloudflare stack, enabling attachment storage in R2, task management with Queues, and inbound email handling with Cloudflare Workers AI. Local testing is supported with wrangler emulation, while observability tools provide delivery metrics for debugging. Email Sending requires a paid Workers subscription with pricing details to follow, while Email Routing remains free under existing limits.
