Clipboard manager CopyQ 12 improves global shortcuts on Wayland, adds black theme and more

CopyQ 12.0 arrives as the latest version of this open source, cross-platform clipboard manager. Users on Wayland now benefit from global shortcuts registered via Portal when available, improving shortcut reliability. This release also brings a new black theme, adding to the existing light and dark themes, and allows users to set theme file colors by name.

Additionally, the update introduces more dialog window control: new attributes let dialogs stay on top of other windows or act as modal, blocking other application interactions until closed. Support for icon font symbols in notes is included through the application/x-copyq-item-icon format.

These changes are enabled by backend updates: CopyQ now defaults to using the Qt 6 library, while dropping support for Qt releases older than 5.15. On Windows, the clipboard manager hides itself from screenshots and screen recordings by default, aiding privacy. Building on tab management improvements, temporary tabs not saved to disk now persist through configuration changes, and pinned or locked items are retained even if tab size changes. The release also provides a range of other enhancements and bug fixes to enhance usability and stability.
