Linux Lite 7.6 released with new community wiki, LibreOffice 25.8, bug fixes, and more
Linux Lite 7.6 has been released as a minor update for this lightweight Linux distribution, focusing on long-term support patches, bug fixes, and interface adjustments. The release is built on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS and adopts the Linux 6.8 kernel, providing an up-to-date foundation for system stability and compatibility. As part of this update, essential applications have received new versions — users will find Chrome 139, Thunderbird 128, LibreOffice 25.8, VLC 3.0.20, and GIMP 2.10.36 pre-installed.
Alongside system improvements, Linux Lite 7.6 introduces a completely new wiki platform for documentation. This open wiki is designed to foster faster updates, clearer guidance, and easier access to information, while welcoming contributions from the community. Following this documentation change, the desktop environment continues to deliver a familiar look with the Materia window theme, Papirus icons, and Roboto Regular as the default font.
These desktop features are complemented by updates to in-house tools such as Lite Welcome, Lite Upgrade, and Lite Themes, each delivering usability tweaks for a smoother experience.
