HandBrake 1.10 adds Social 10MB presets, metadata improvements, and enhanced AV1 support
HandBrake 1.10 has been released, adding Social 10MB presets for platforms with strict file size limits like Discord, as well as for email attachments and small clip sharing. Users now have more encoding control with an option to select the encoder color range and a command-line switch to disable Dolby Vision and HDR10+ passthru.
Metadata passthru now preserves creation date, cover art, and location, improving archival workflows. NVEnc Constant Quality range has been refined, Framerate Shaper performance is faster for high-resolution videos, and audio or subtitle track naming passthru can be disabled. EAC3 with Atmos is now correctly signaled in MP4, and SubRip or UTF-8 subtitles can passthru to MKV without conversion.
This version reduces memory usage during deep scans and fixes crashes with bitmap subtitles and the Chroma Smooth filter. Linux gains improved validation for Opus and Vorbis passthru in WebM and updated translation support. macOS adds VideoToolbox AV1 decoding, a Metal-accelerated Render Sub filter, and a contextual menu in the presets popover. Windows introduces a default range mode setting, a custom action for queue completion, and AV1 decode support for ARM devices via DirectX and Media Foundation.
