Apple adds support for Claude 4 Sonnet and GPT-5 AI models in latest Xcode 26 beta
Apple has released Xcode 26 beta 7, providing developers with updated tools for building applications across Apple platforms. With this release, integration with third-party artificial intelligence solutions has been expanded.
Developers can now link their paid Claude account within the Intelligence settings panel, enabling use of Claude 4 Sonnet directly in Xcode. Alongside this change, the ChatGPT integration has been updated: users are now able to begin new conversations with either GPT-4.1 or GPT-5, with GPT-5 automatically set as the default choice.
Xcode gives developers two specific ChatGPT model options for coding tasks. GPT-5 is designed for routine requests and offers quick, high-quality responses suitable for most development workflows. For tasks that require deeper analysis, GPT-5 Reasoning increases response accuracy by investing more time before delivering answers.
