Windsurf Editor Wave 11 adds Cascade voice support, improved browser integration & more

Just a few days after the news of Windsurf being acquired by Cognition, the AI code editor has released its next major update, Wave 11, featuring key additions like voice support for the Cascade AI assistant tool, deeper browser integration, Planning Mode by default, and expanded JetBrains support.

Users can now dictate instructions to Cascade using one-way voice input, making it easier to handle long or complex prompts. It also introduces named checkpoints within conversations, allowing users to save and return to specific points in a conversation. Users can at-mention past chats to give Cascade full context for follow-up tasks, such as generating tests for an earlier implementation.

Browser integration now includes screenshot capture, DOM tree access, and tab referencing through at-mentions. Cascade can autonomously collect console logs and UI data, removing the need for manual copying. Planning Mode is now on by default to structure multi-step work, and JetBrains users benefit from full support for Planning Mode, Workflows, and file-based Rules.
