Nextdoor's latest redesign adds safety alerts, local news, and AI-powered Faves
Nextdoor latest redesign introduces three major updates: real-time safety alerts, a geo-targeted news feed, and AI-powered local recommendations. Alerts now provide updates on weather, traffic, wildfires, storms, and power outages through an interactive neighborhood map that also connects users with local agencies like fire departments.
The new News section brings local stories from over 3,500 vetted publications in the US, UK, and Canada, automatically tailored to each neighborhood. At launch, it’s available in over 75% of US cities where Nextdoor is active.
The Faves feature uses AI to surface local recommendations by analyzing 14 years of community posts. Users can ask for things like the best pizza or kid-friendly hikes and get summarized responses based on neighbor suggestions. The update it's initially rolling out in select US markets.
