Immich 1.136 adds new timeline, sync, and upload mechanism & brings widgets to Android

Immich 1.136 is now available, bringing a range of updates for users of this open source, self-hosted photo and video management software. The release debuts a beta timeline and synchronization mechanism aimed at boosting performance, simplifying navigation, enabling a more interactive detail viewer, and enlivening album browsing. Improvements also touch background upload operations, streamlining bulk photo and video handling.

Following the rollout of home screen widgets for iOS in version 1.135, Android users now gain the same widget functionality. The development team has also refined iOS widgets in response to community input, with many enhancements benefitting both platforms.

These changes are complemented by the introduction of deep linking into the Immich mobile app. Users can now open specific resources directly via browser links, Apple Shortcuts, Near Field Communication (NFC), or other automation workflows, reducing friction for power users creating shortcuts or custom scripts.

In addition to the highlighted features, the update delivers further enhancements, stability improvements, bug fixes, and updated translations, contributing to a smoother overall user experience.
