Immich 1.135 released with iOS widgets, Google Cast support, new onboarding flow, and more

Immich 1.135 introduces several upgrades for mobile and web users benefiting from this self-hosted photo and video management solution. iOS users can now add Immich widgets to their home screen for easier access. Additionally, mobile apps now support Google Cast, allowing users to cast photos directly to compatible devices. Album management on mobile has also been improved, with the ability to display and edit album descriptions from the app.

On the web, Google Cast integration is now opt-in, preventing unnecessary network requests to Google unless the feature is enabled. All new users visiting the web app will now be welcomed with an onboarding flow, which highlights available features and helps with initial setup and preferences. Timeline navigation has been made more efficient via keyboard shortcuts, allowing quicker movement between day, month, and year views.

Focusing on integrations, this release lets administrators select additional permissions when creating API keys for third-party software. Support for VectorChord 0.4.2 has also been added, following its migration in version 1.133. Furthermore, it is now possible to grant administrative rights to other users, facilitating collaborative management.

For developers, Immich now offers an alternative development environment setup with dev containers, making it easier to contribute or test the software.
