Vivaldi 7.4 brings floating tabs, background audio playback, and more to iOS and Android

A couple of days after Vivaldi 7.4 was released for desktop users, Vivaldi has now released version 7.4 of its web browser for iOS and Android, rolling out several new features aimed at improving tab management and user interface design on both platforms.

On Android, the update introduces a floating tabs design that refreshes the tab bar for a more modern appearance. This version now offers a reader view shortcut on the toolbar, making it easier to switch to clutter-free reading. Following these interface upgrades, Android users have greater privacy and customization options: search history visibility in the address bar can now be toggled, typed history suggestions can be disabled, and users may select between a grid or a cleaner, scrollable list for the tab switcher.

Meanwhile, on iOS, Vivaldi 7.4 adds the ability to pin and stack tabs, bringing desktop-class tab management features to mobile. Notably, the iOS version now supports background audio playback even when switching apps or locking the screen, and delivers new settings to control both search and typed history visibility. Users can now also prevent links from automatically opening in external apps. The refreshed floating tab bar design is present on iOS as well.
