Rockstar delays GTA VI to May 2026 and debuts new cinematic trailer
Rockstar Games has officially postponed the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, setting a new release date of May 26, 2026. Originally intended for fall 2025, this rescheduling pushes back the hotly anticipated game by about eight months. The developer explained that additional development time is needed to meet quality expectations, and issued a public apology to fans, reaffirming its commitment to exceeding player standards.
Despite the delay, Rockstar unveiled the second official trailer for GTA VI just a couple days after the news, offering a fresh look at the game's expanded environments, new characters, and a cast featuring several well-known actors. Notably, the latest trailer retains a cinematic focus, with no in-game footage revealed yet.
GTA VI will return to Vice City and feature Lucia as the franchise’s first female lead, embracing a storyline inspired by the infamous Bonnie and Clyde crime duo. The new video follows an earlier trailer released in December 2023, which set records as the most viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours, with over 90 million views logged. To get a sense of how anticipated this new release is, Grand Theft Auto V remains highly popular 11 years after its launch and is currently the most watched game on Twitch in 2024.

Come on Rockstar, you don't need more time when you could just release your game filled with bugs that you will never fix. Just ask Cyberpunk and No Man Sky, bugs don't exist, it's just players that don't know how to play games. Or maybe they need time to get better tits physics than MGS3.
