Google introduces Gemini summary cards for Gmail on Android and iOS devices
Google has launched Gemini summary cards in the Gmail app on Android and iOS, making it easier to process long or complex email threads. Instead of manually triggering a summary, users will now see an automatically generated synopsis at the top of the email content for messages where a summary is considered helpful, such as those with several replies or lengthy discussions. The summary remains up to date as the thread evolves, with Gemini capturing new replies and synthesizing key points into the synopsis.
While these enhancements are currently limited to emails in English, the existing options to request a summary via the “summarize this email” chip or the Gemini side panel are still available for threads that do not automatically display a summary card. This ensures that manual summary generation remains accessible alongside the new automated features.

Gmail was founded on the basis of a scam: "Free email....but we get to read all of it, and so do 3-letter agencies." Now playing catch-up with AI they want to obtain user's consent for their AI to start reading their emails. These corporations never change.
Oh, I can't WAIT for the next stupid AI bot to sift and read through my emails. Don't these companies even stop for a second to think about how privacy-invasive this is? Training your AI on the contents of your users' private and possibly corporate-sensitive emails is a nice way to get sued.
