Glitch to shut down web app hosting by July 2025, introduces project URL redirects
Glitch, the collaborative coding platform, will shut down all web hosting services and user app profiles on July 8, 2025. The platform cites high operational costs and increasing misuse by bad actors as key reasons for discontinuing this core feature. While the ability to host apps will end, Glitch will introduce a redirect feature so users can keep existing project URLs active. These redirects must be set up before December 31, 2025, and will continue working at least through the end of 2026.
Until the end of 2025, users will still be able to log into the Glitch dashboard. During this period, they can download their project code and configure subdomain redirects. As platforms like Fly.io, Deno, GitHub Pages, Netlify, and others now offer more modern hosting solutions, Glitch is preparing a migration guide to help users export their projects and move to these alternatives smoothly.
Glitch Pro subscriptions are no longer available for new sign-ups, though current subscribers can use the service until July 8, 2025. Details on refunds for unused subscription time will be sent out by June 2, 2025. Going forward, Glitch will focus on helping developers share and discover remixable apps, and may bring back profile features for showcasing externally hosted projects.
