Elgato launches Virtual Stream Deck, adding desktop control tools on any screen

Elgato introduced the Virtual Stream Deck as the flagship of its Stream Deck Everywhere initiative. The new software lets users create interactive and fully customizable control panels on any screen, replacing the need for physical Stream Deck devices. Users can customize their setup by configuring rows and columns, while the deck itself can be fixed in place or summoned via click or keyboard shortcut, providing flexible options for access.

The floating version of Virtual Stream Deck adapts to the active program and supports custom actions like shortcuts or macros, with a UI similar to apps like Pieoneer or Orbital for Mac. Although it runs independently and doesn't really need any hardware to actually works, the apps still requires a connected Elgato or Corsair device for validation, limiting standalone use. For now, it serves more as a companion to physical hardware, though Elgato plans to expand support to touchscreens, mice, and keyboards.

Alongside the software, the company revealed modular Stream Deck hardware in 6, 15, and 32-key aluminum variants designed for custom installations. The new Network Dock introduces wired Ethernet support and remote Stream Deck control. Additionally, the Stream Deck MK.2 now features scissor-switch keys, enhancing input speed and precision.
