Bear 2.4 adds attachment encryption, tag-specific pinning, and smart to-do sorting
Shiny Frog has released Bear 2.4 for macOS and iOS, introducing several powerful updates to its Markdown note-taking app. The biggest change focuses on enhanced encryption: users can now encrypt notes that include attachments. This means images, PDFs, and other files receive the same level of protection as text notes, helping keep critical documents and secrets secure across all your devices. Note that updating Bear everywhere is required to maintain sync with this new feature.
Organization also sees a major upgrade with more flexible note pinning. Pinned notes now remain within their specific tag views instead of appearing everywhere, reducing clutter. If no tag is selected in the sidebar, pins become global. The sidebar now includes a dedicated Pinned section for all local and global pins, alongside a redesigned pin icon for a cleaner and modern look.
Bear 2.4 also adds a menu option to automatically move completed to-dos to the bottom of your lists, improving focus for users managing tasks within notes. Finally, this release delivers a series of minor enhancements and bug fixes, refining the overall user experience.
