Windsurf Editor Wave 6 brings one-click app deploys, improvements to Windsurf Tabs & more
The next big update for the AI code editor Windsurf Editor is here, called Wave 6, introducing several new features, most notably App Deploys. This new capability allows users to publish Windsurf-built apps to the public internet with one click. The feature is integrated with Netlify (beta), with free users allowed one site creation per day, paid users two, and a limit of 10 deploys per hour for all users. Deployments can be claimed into personal Netlify accounts for further customization, and users can view their deployment history on the Windsurf website.
New Cascade tools support Netlify setup and deployment for plans with snippet telemetry enabled. Enterprises now also have access to advanced features such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Turbo Mode, with admin-level controls. Additionally, the update offers AI-generated commit messages for paid plans, a conversation table of contents for easier navigation in Cascade, and improved performance in long conversations. Tab enhancements include search context and Jupyter Notebook support, along with improved navigation.
Other improvements encompass MCP support for SSE-based services, new app icons, editable terminal commands, refined memory retrieval, and numerous bug fixes. Windsurf Editor has also integrated the latest changes from Visual Studio Code, further enhancing the overall functionality.
