Proton releases major VPN update with numerous enhancements for Windows, iOS, and Android

Proton has rolled out updated Proton VPN apps for Windows, iOS, and Android, aiming to streamline the user experience across platforms. The Windows app now boasts an optimized interface for desktop users, featuring a quick view of protection status, connection details, and an interactive map. It also introduces in-app education with easy access to support articles and offers one-click access to recent and pinned connections. Advanced features like a kill switch, split tunneling, and enhanced profiles with customizable options, including Connect & Go, are now more accessible.

The iOS app has undergone a complete home screen redesign for a more modern and responsive experience. Users can quickly view connection, protection, and NetShield statistics, as well as pin preferred connections for easy access.

On Android, the app introduces custom connection profiles, allowing selection of location, server, and protocol. It includes preset profiles for activities such as streaming, gaming, and P2P. Users can also set custom DNS servers and benefit from IPv6 support.

Proton has also introduced new widgets for Android and iOS, marking the first time iPhone users can connect with a single tap via widgets. Android users can now connect to preset profiles directly from their widgets, enhancing connectivity convenience across both platforms.

I'm already paying to use Proton Mail and Proton Pass, so I'm happily using Proton VPN on and off without looking for an alternative. The UI improvements are welcome.
