LookAway 1.12 adds app exclusions from meeting detection, smarter drag handling, and more

The LookAway 1.12 update allows users to exclude specific apps from meeting detection, which now relies solely on microphone activity, eliminating false positives from webcam checks. This is particularly useful for users running non-meeting apps that use the microphone. The update also prevents breaks from interrupting drag actions in creative tools, showing a 'dragging...' pop-up next to the cursor until the task is completed. For users who have enabled 'Wait until I finish typing,' drag gestures are now automatically protected under Rest Mode to reduce interruptions.

The update also addresses the needs of users with nontraditional work schedules, particularly those working overnight shifts, by accurately handling these schedules. A new feature on the break screen allows users to snooze breaks by 1 or 5 minutes without it being counted as a skip, and a customizable double-escape shortcut provides more flexibility in managing breaks. There's also a new Raycast extension that enables quick access to break commands from the Raycast launcher.

Looking ahead, LookAway 2.0 is in active development with a redesigned menu bar app and dashboard. A Windows version is expected to enter public beta within a month, while an iOS version remains in exploration due to technical constraints.
