File archiver PeaZip 10.4 released with improved UI, smarter error handling, and bug fixes
PeaZip has released version 10.4 of its open source file archiver utility, introducing several enhancements and bug fixes. This update is built on Zstandard 1.5.7 and Pea 1.24 backends, offering improved performance and functionality. Notably, PeaZip now automatically adjusts its icons and accent colors to match light or dark mode settings.
The update features new v6 themes that align with various system styles and color schemes, enhancing the app's integration with different environments. Users will find alternative context menus for quicker navigation in the file and archive manager, along with the ability to sort items in the password manager.
The file browser popup has been enhanced to display additional information fields, such as attributes, compression/encryption methods, content details, object-level comments, and timestamps for creation and last access. Additionally, a new “90s” style menu offers a retro layout with a classic tree view sidebar.
For those utilizing command line interface (CLI) and system integration, PeaZip 10.4 includes expanded script samples. The update also addresses a script generation issue related to the simultaneous use of “TAR before” and “Delete files after archiving” options. Additionally, smarter handling of symlinks and improved error checks have been implemented to prevent accidental deletion of temporary archives.
