ChatGPT's memory can now reference all your past chats for more personalized interactions
OpenAI has announced an update to ChatGPT, introducing enhanced memory capabilities. Starting today, the AI can reference all past chats to offer more personalized responses, making it more effective for tasks like writing, advising, and learning. This builds on existing saved memories, allowing new conversations to draw on previous interactions for smoother, tailored exchanges.
Users maintain control over this feature, with options to opt out of referencing past chats or memory entirely via settings. Those currently opted out of memory will automatically be excluded from the new referencing feature. Users can request changes to what the AI knows about them directly in the chat, and temporary chat options are available for sessions without memory use.
The rollout begins today for Plus and Pro users, excluding those in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Team, Enterprise, and Edu users will gain access in the coming weeks.
