Threads introduces interest tags, custom feeds, reply controls and improved video controls

Threads now lets users customize profiles with up to 10 topics of interest, making it easier to connect with like-minded people. Clicking a topic in a profile shows related posts, boosting engagement. The post composition process now suggests trending or past topics, and topic tags have been redesigned into a "pill-shaped" format for better visibility in the For You feed. While posts with these tags reportedly get more views, Meta hasn’t shared specific data.

In terms of user interaction, Threads now offers users the ability to limit replies and quotes to followers only, giving them more control over post interactions. Additionally, users can rearrange their custom feeds and set a preferred feed as the default view when opening the app.

Video playback has been improved with a redesigned player, featuring enhanced pause/play and skip controls, along with a pinned progress bar for easier navigation. Meta is also gradually personalizing civic and political content recommendations within Threads. These features are being introduced gradually, with the interest-based profile feature still in a testing phase despite wider availability.
