Twitch introduces 100-hour storage limit for highlights and uploads starting April 2025
Twitch is set to implement a 100-hour storage limit for Highlights and Uploads starting April 19, 2025. This change will not affect Past Broadcasts (VODs) or Clips, allowing streamers to continue storing unlimited content in those formats. Twitch estimates that less than 0.5% of active streamers will be impacted by the new policy.
To enforce compliance, Twitch will delete videos that exceed the storage limit, with priority given to those with the fewest views. Once a channel's content is within the 100-hour cap, users will not be able to exceed it with new Highlights or Uploads. A new storage tracker will be introduced on the Video Producer page, enabling users to monitor their storage usage and sort videos by date, length, or view count.
Twitch advises users to download any important Highlights and Uploads before the deletion process begins to prevent the loss of valuable content. The company justifies this change by noting that Highlights have not been as effective for viewer engagement as Clips, Tags, and the Mobile Discovery Feed, although some users have amassed thousands of hours of Highlights and Uploads over time.
