Snapchat unveils its new AI text-to-image model for fast, on-device image creation

Snapchat has introduced a new AI-driven text-to-image model tailored for mobile devices, allowing users to generate high-quality images on their phones in seconds.

The model, known for its compact and speedy performance, can create images in about 1.4 seconds on an iPhone 16 Pro Max. By operating entirely on the device, Snapchat reduces computation costs and eliminates the need for extensive server infrastructure. The rollout of this feature is anticipated in the coming months.

The model will be integrated into existing Snapchat features like AI Snaps and AI Bitmoji Backgrounds, enhancing user experience without increasing operational costs. However, a specific launch date has not been announced yet.
