Nitrux 3.9.0 “pd” launches with Linux 6.12 kernel and many new features and enhancements

Nitrux has rolled out its latest version, 3.9.0 “pd”, featuring the Linux 6.12.11 kernel. This update brings a host of software upgrades, including Firefox 132, MOKutil 0.6.0, and OpenRC 0.56, alongside Rsync 3.3.0, Flatpak 1.16.0, and Distrobox 1.8.1.2. The release also includes Mesa 24.3.4, PipeWire 1.3.81, Wireplumber 0.5.7, CoreCtrl 1.4.3, and OpenSSL 3.4.0.

The NVIDIA Linux x64 Display Driver has been updated to version 570.86.16, while the AMD Open Source Driver for Vulkan moves to version 2024.Q4.3. Desktop settings now support fingerprint authentication in SDDM and Plasma. Installation scripts for Bottles and Heroic Games Launcher have been refined to install the appropriate SDK runtime and display the correct icon during installation.

New features include the Nitrux SB Manager for creating machine owner keys compatible with Secure Boot, and EnvyControl, a CLI tool for switching GPU modes on NVIDIA Optimus systems. Additionally, power profiles-daemon has been introduced to adjust system behavior based on power profiles selected by the user. Compatibility with Imageboot and partial support for Coreboot in GRUB 2 have also been added. The release is rounded off with various enhancements and bug fixes.
