Huge PlayStation Network outage for 15+ hours with millions of users affected & no fix yet
The PlayStation Network (PSN) has been down for more than 15 hours now, impacting millions of users on various platforms such as PlayStation consoles and even their PC ports. The outage began at around 3 PM PST, with reports flooding in from DownDetector and social media. Sony has confirmed the issue but has not provided specific details or an estimated time for resolution.
The PSN status page indicates that several services are affected, including Account Management, Gaming and Social, and the PlayStation Store. This disruption affects a wide range of platforms, including PS5, PS4, PS3, and the PlayStation Studios PC Ports using PSN (luckily, Sony recently made this optional, so those without a linked account can still play their single-player games).
The prolonged downtime and lack of communication from Sony have frustrated many users, especially those paying for online services, as the weekend nears. Sony promises to update users once services are back online, but no timeline has been given. This recalls the historic PSN hack during the PS3 era, which lasted several days and ended with compensation for all users.
