File transfer app ForkLift 4.2.6 switches from libssh2 to OpenSSH for SFTP connections

BinaryNights has launched ForkLift 4.2.6, an update to its dual pane file manager and file transfer client for macOS. The key enhancement in this release is the transition from libssh2 to OpenSSH for SFTP connections. OpenSSH offers improved compatibility and advanced features such as statements and ProxyJump, which were not supported by libssh2.

To accommodate potential issues arising from this change, ForkLift 4.2.6 temporarily retains both implementations. Users experiencing problems with OpenSSH can revert to libssh2 via a terminal command. Additionally, users may need to update their SSH configuration files to resolve connection issues, with ForkLift providing error messages to assist in troubleshooting.

The update also introduces the display of subitem counts during preparation, Czech localization, and various other minor enhancements and bug fixes to improve stability and user experience.
