Ente Photos 0.9.98: Light mode, enhanced import, and encrypted video streaming beta

Ente Photos has released version 0.9.98, introducing light mode to the desktop app, offering a more navigable interface, and improved information display for clarity. Enhancements to thumbnail generation address challenges posed by Ente’s end-to-end encryption, ensuring a more reliable process. Users migrating from Google Photos will experience a smoother import process, despite some challenges with Google's data exports.

Mobile app improvements include album deep links for direct access and seamless shared album participation, allowing users to join and contribute to albums more easily. Search capabilities in shared photos have been upgraded with encrypted machine learning indexes for advanced queries, and users with powerful desktops can aid in indexing shared libraries for family members.

The new "Faces to Contacts" feature lets users assign names and avatars to contacts, moving beyond email address displays. Additionally, Ente has introduced a beta for encrypted video streaming, offering compressed playback with random seek capabilities on mobile apps.

This is actually the last small update before v1.0 drops, which is supposed to bring the real deal. We'll see!
