Audio Hijack 4.5 released with enhanced audio transcription thanks to Apple's Metal
Rogue Amoeba has announced the release of version 4.5 of Audio Hijack, a software that enables users to record any audio on Mac computers. The update brings several key enhancements to the Transcribe feature, which converts spoken audio into text and is particularly beneficial for podcasters.
With Audio Hijack 4.5, Transcribe now leverages Apple's Metal technology, allowing apps to access the Mac’s GPU for faster rendering and complex calculations. This improvement leads to significantly lower CPU usage and faster transcription finalization on all Apple Silicon-based Macs. Additionally, the Transcribe template, introduced alongside the Transcribe block, has been refined to clean up audio before processing, resulting in more accurate transcriptions.
The Transcribe feature has now exited its beta phase, and the update is available at no cost to all Audio Hijack users.
