Trakt rolls out Continue Watching and Start Watching smart lists in new "Lite" design

The popular movie and TV show tracker platform Trakt.tv has rolled out Continue Watching and Start Watching as part of its recently introduced and controversial Lite redesign, replacing the older Up Next and traditional Watchlist behavior with two smarter activity driven lists. Continue Watching collects unfinished episodes and partially viewed movies and orders them by the user’s most recent activity, suggesting the next episode in a series and surfacing films only when playback was paused through a connected app or media center.

A new toggle at the top of the interface lets users switch between Media, Shows, or Movies views. Media mode blends both formats into a single feed that prioritizes recent engagement, while the other modes filter by content type.

Start Watching highlights newly released titles pulled from the user’s Watchlist, sorting shows by airdate and movies by cinema release date. Media mode merges these into one chronological stream to make new releases easier to spot. The original Watchlist remains accessible, but Start Watching offers a focused home view of what has just become available to watch.
