The PeerTube mobile app now integrates a creator mode for video upload and management
Following the release of PeerTube v8 last week, the PeerTube mobile app now introduces a creator mode, allowing users to upload videos directly from their smartphones. This creator mode is centered around a new “Creator” page, which provides creators with the ability to manage their channels and video content within the app. At the top of this page, users can access all their channels, edit channel details, or add new channels as needed.
The middle section of the creator page displays a list of all videos, each equipped with a menu for editing information, downloading, adding to playlists, or deleting. These controls offer creators fine-tuned management options on mobile devices. At the bottom of the page, the “Publish” button initiates the video upload flow. Users can select video files from their phone or record new content directly within the app.
After selecting a video, creators can preview their content, choose the destination channel, and upload. Notably, uploads continue in the background, enabling multitasking. Finally, the process allows for editing metadata such as thumbnails, subtitles, chapters, and descriptions. Live-streaming and video import by URL are planned for future updates, indicating ongoing feature development for the mobile app.
