KDE Gear 25.12 brings enhancements to Itinerary, Dolphin, Kate, Photos and other KDE apps
KDE Gear 25.12 is now available, introducing a series of new features and improvements across the KDE software suite. The Itinerary app expands its capabilities with over a dozen new extractors for railway companies and events, making journey planning easier. It can now automatically set your current location as the starting point, display your altitude, and offers a built-in currency converter.
Following these travel upgrades, Dolphin, KDE’s file and folder manager, improves trash handling so that temporary folders no longer appear in your home trash bin. Users can also hide files and folders via the Dolphin context menu. Kate, the code editor, enhances Git support by displaying the latest branch activity, benefiting developers who track code changes. Photos, KDE's image viewer, introduces a new crop tool and supports touch gestures to improve image manipulation.
While other apps see focused enhancements, KJournalD now allows loading user units directly from the browser, and NeoChat adds a keyboard shortcuts settings' page. NeoChat also broadens support for Matrix extensions, such as the Jitsi videoconferencing tool. Additional updates include higher-quality PDF export in Konqueror and a new button in the Falkon web browser for toggling the ad blocker.
