JetBrains will discontinue its Fleet IDE on December 22, 2025, due to overlapping purposes

JetBrains has officially announced that Fleet, its next-generation integrated development environment (IDE), will be discontinued. Downloads of Fleet will no longer be available after December 22, 2025. Following this decision, JetBrains explained that maintaining two overlapping families of IDEs, including Fleet and the IntelliJ-based lineup, led to confusion and diluted its focus.

Elaborating further, JetBrains stated that rebuilding the capabilities of IntelliJ-based IDEs inside Fleet did not deliver sufficient added value to justify maintaining a standalone product. While Fleet will not continue as a separate IDE, many of its software components as well as its user experience and interface concepts have already been incorporated into other JetBrains IDEs.

With this announcement, JetBrains will cease releasing any further updates for Fleet. Distribution will also end, so users will not be able to download Fleet from the Toolbox App or other official channels after December 22, 2025. For those who have already installed Fleet, it will remain usable; however, features that depend on server-side services, including the AI assistant, may become unavailable over time.
