OpenProject 16.6 adds new project evaluation tools & significant performance improvements
OpenProject 16.6 is now available as the latest update for this open source project management platform. With this release, project portfolio managers gain three new attribute types — Hierarchy, Weighted items, and Calculated value — allowing organizations to construct customized evaluation models and compare projects using standardized criteria.
These portfolio enhancements are complemented by substantial performance improvements. OpenProject 16.6 streamlines backend processing and database queries, which reduces system load and accelerates response times across large installations that may contain thousands of projects and millions of work packages. Users can expect smoother navigation and more responsive filtering, even in high-demand environments. The autocompleter for work package relations has also been optimized to fetch only the minimum required data.
Following these upgrades, the Documents module sees its first major step toward improved collaboration. The new index page organizes files by name, type, and last edited date, with the most recently updated files always displayed first. Users benefit from a quick filter by document title and can use the side-navigation to refine lists by type.
Additionally, OpenProject 16.6 delivers usability refinements, streamlining information management, meeting tools, and administrative navigation.
