Kodi 21.3 brings HDR support on the Xbox One and Blu-ray playback enhancements on Linux
Kodi 21.3 “Omega” has been released, delivering several features and improvements across video, audio, and other subsystems. For video playback, this update introduces High Dynamic Range (HDR) support on the Xbox One and addresses issues with Blu-ray playback on Linux. It also corrects problems related to audio and subtitle syncing when resuming Blu-rays, improves handling of HDR10 metadata, and enhances subtitle selection using ISO 639-1 language codes.
Building on these video changes, Kodi 21.3 boosts the speed of video library rescans, prevents multi-episode files from overwriting previous entries, and fixes issues showing the correct information for certain movie versions. For music and audio, users benefit from reliable CDDB lookups with GnuDB’s API, improved album search accuracy for artist names, and fixes for rare crashes involving PipeWire audio when devices are changed.
Regarding peripherals, this version brings support for Turkish keyboards on Linux, better handling of Pulse-Eight Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) adapters, and keyboard fixes for macOS. The user interface has also been enhanced with smoother touch input for slider dialogs and more predictable system dialog behavior. Network improvements include new support for HTTP Basic Authentication and upgraded security certificates, while additional changes fix remote app streaming and extend the update window for add-ons.
