Google adds support for interactive images in Gemini for deeper visual learning
Google is expanding Gemini's functionality by launching support for interactive images, aimed at offering a more engaging way to study complex academic topics. Previously, Gemini provided only static text and images. Now, learners can visually explore subjects such as the digestive system or cell structure by directly tapping or clicking on specific parts of a diagram.
When users interact with these images, Gemini reveals panel overlays with immediate definitions, thorough explanations, and links to further content. This approach is designed to increase understanding by supporting deep-dives into complex material right from the visual elements.
Unlike passive viewing, Gemini’s new feature enables users to engage directly with educational content, including opportunities to ask follow-up questions and discover related information. According to Google, this interactive capability reflects education research, which stresses the need for active engagement in effective learning. These additions make learning sessions with Gemini more visual, dynamic, and responsive to individual curiosity.
