Firefox 145 brings built-in PDF comments, anti-fingerprinting upgrades & tab group preview

Firefox 145.0 has been released with new PDF commenting, privacy upgrades, and workflow improvements. Users can now add, edit, and delete comments directly in PDFs, with a sidebar that lists all notes for easier navigation.

The update introduces stronger anti-fingerprinting protections that reduce user uniqueness, improving privacy in Private Browsing and Strict Tracking modes. Stateless mode for Enhanced Bounce Tracking Protection is now enabled by default to block advanced redirect tracking.

Other updates include tab group previews, password access from the sidebar, and an option to open links from external apps next to the active tab. “Copy Link to Highlight” lets users share selected webpage sections, and on Windows, a new desktop launcher replaces the old shortcut to simplify Firefox setup on new devices.
