Cryptomator 1.18 desktop now lets you restore lost or damaged master keys & vault config
Cryptomator desktop version 1.18 is now available, bringing enhanced security and usability for users encrypting sensitive data in cloud storage services. The update introduces substantial improvements to the recovery key feature. Users can now fully restore lost or damaged master key and vault configuration files with their existing recovery key, making vault reconstruction possible even after accidental deletion, backup issues, or memory corruption.
Alongside these recovery enhancements, the release improves the setup experience for those managing multiple vaults. When creating a new vault, Cryptomator now automatically suggests the last used folder location, streamlining workflows for users who organize vaults in similar directory structures.
For Windows users, the installer and all binary files are now signed with a new certificate. This change is designed to prevent outdated certificate warnings and reduce installation disruptions on modern Windows systems. Beyond these key updates, the release also addresses several bugs, with particular focus on improving compatibility for macOS 26 Tahoe users.
