Bluesky adds new moderation tools with expanded categories & a unified enforcement system
Bluesky has introduced new moderation tools with a more detailed reporting system to improve violation tracking. Released with version 1.110, the update expands reporting categories from six to nine, adding options such as election misinformation, youth harassment or bullying, eating disorders, and human trafficking to meet new regulatory requirements like the UK Online Safety Act.
The platform now assigns severity ratings to flagged content, guiding penalties that range from temporary suspensions to permanent bans. There's also a new unified enforcement system that tracks all violations in one place to improve accuracy and response times. Users also receive clearer notifications with both duration and end date, explaining which guideline they violated, the severity level, their total violation count, and any suspension details, with the option to appeal decisions.
The update also includes a redesigned reply control interface with savable defaults and a new dark mode app icon.
