Apple launches web-based App Store for easier app browsing & discovery across platforms
Apple now offers users a web-based version of its App Store, enabling browsing and exploration of apps and games for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro directly via a browser. This major update extends App Store accessibility beyond Apple devices, catering to both users and developers.
In line with the native App Store interface, the browser-based site provides a familiar experience. It features the Today tab, editorial recommendations, charts, Apple Arcade titles, and a search bar that operates seamlessly within the web environment. Following this, the site introduces a dropdown menu for navigating between different Apple platforms, with the layout adapting dynamically depending on the section currently viewed.
These enhancements make app discovery easier not only for users but also for developers, as the new App Store is indexable by search engines. This addresses a longstanding request for better discoverability of apps online.
Despite the upgrade, users can browse and share apps but cannot download or install them directly from the web interface, maintaining a key limitation in this otherwise expanded experience.

It would be lovely if apple allowed the app .ipa's to be downloaded from the web eventually (although I highly doubt it)
