Android launches new wake lock metric to reduce battery drain

Android is introducing a refined excessive partial wake lock metric in Android vitals to help developers reduce battery drain. Apps that consistently exceed new wake lock thresholds may lose visibility on Google Play or display battery drain warnings to users starting March 1, 2026. Developers can now use a detailed wake lock names table to aid debugging and optimization in the updated vitals dashboard.
