Telegram update adds live comments for calls, contact notes, AI bot upgrades and more
Telegram latest update adds live comments and emoji reactions to group calls and video chats, allowing participants to share quick feedback without unmuting. The feature is available in groups with fewer than 1000 participants. iOS users also get the new Liquid Glass interface, featuring translucent navigation bars, keyboards, and sticker panels aligned with iOS 26 design standards.
Users can now add private notes to contacts to remember details like how they met or where someone works. Telegram also introduces suggested birthdays, letting users propose or add dates to contact profiles to receive reminders and enable gift-giving.
AI bots now support threaded conversations and real-time response streaming, improving usability for multi-topic chats. Developers can create subscription-based bots, while Premium users gain expanded profile customization with collectible gifts as themes. The update also revamps gifting options with anonymous modes, adds blockchain-based gift displays via Fragment, and introduces a Bugs and Suggestions mini app for in-app feedback.
As a side final note, Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov shared a somber message on his 41st birthday warning that “we are running out of time to save the free Internet,” voicing concern over growing digital control measures like the UK’s age verification systems and online identification laws in other regions as major threats to privacy and free speech.
