Steam launches a new Personal Calendar tool for personalized game release recommendations
Valve has unveiled the Personal Calendar as a new Steam Labs experiment, designed to help users discover recently released and upcoming games that match their interests. Each calendar displays a selection of titles based on factors such as users' playtime patterns, games on their wishlist, and similarities with other users’ activity. This approach ensures that game recommendations reflect a player's primary gaming habits rather than one-off sessions.
Users can filter their calendar by tags, hide games they already own, select genres, and modify how many recommendations appear—up to 100 by default. The calendar, covering an eight-week rolling period, shows release dates for Monday through Friday, aligning with when most games launch.
While users can access the feature through the Steam desktop client under Special Sections or directly on the web, recommendations update every day. However, day-to-day changes will be minimal since the algorithm draws from stable, long-term user behaviors. Games already on a user's wishlist are also automatically included, simplifying release tracking.
