PeaZip 10.7 released with built-in text & image viewer, and image thumbnails' display
PeaZip 10.7.0, the free and open source file archiver utility, introduces a range of enhancements aimed at improving user experience and code quality. This release bolsters error handling during archive operations and expands the ability to preview items within archives, helping users manage files more confidently.
Building on these functional updates, the file manager receives a host of usability improvements. macOS users benefit from a more dynamic virtual mode, while all platforms now support displaying image thumbnails. A new feature allows users to show these thumbnails on request, streamlining navigation within archives. Additionally, integrated text viewer and image viewer tools have been added, making it easier to inspect the contents of compressed files without extraction.
For developers and contributors, the source code has undergone extensive refactoring. This includes clearer naming for units and variables, logical grouping of functions, and moving functions into specialized modules for improved maintainability.
These advancements are supported by an updated backend leveraging Pea 1.27. Furthermore, PeaZip has updated its build process, compiling sources with Lazarus 4.2 while maintaining compatibility with Lazarus 3.x and 2.x, making it easier for community developers to contribute.
