Opera adds a deep research agent to its Neon agentic browser for advanced research tasks

Opera has introduced the Opera Deep Research Agent (ODRA) to Opera Neon, its browser built for AI-focused tasks introduced just five months ago. This addition brings the total number of AI agents in Neon to four, with ODRA joining Chat, Do, and Make, offering users a broader range of in-browser AI tools.

Following this update, Opera emphasizes that ODRA is designed to be “agnostic” to the underlying AI models and tools. As a result, Opera Neon can tap into multiple artificial intelligence engines and toolsets, such as Google's Gemini, large language models like GPTs and SORA 2 from OpenAI, and Nano Banana from Google. This approach aims to combine the strengths of various technologies rather than locking users into a single ecosystem.

ODRA allows users to conduct more comprehensive research by analyzing numerous sources and compiling them into detailed, high-quality reports that extend beyond standard online searches or typical AI queries. While this process is resource-intensive and may take more time, the results offer deeper insights and improved quality. In addition, users benefit from immediate access to relevant sources, making it faster and easier to begin building research compared to prior workflows.
