Immich launches first stable version with new website, updated API doc, and physical DVD
Immich, the open source, self-hosted photo and video management platform, has reached a significant milestone with its first stable release, version 2.0. This release follows 271 prior versions, 78,000 GitHub stars, and contributions from over 1,500 developers. The move to stable status means the team has resolved much of its technical debt and will now prioritize compatibility, lowering the complexity involved with future updates.
With this stable version, Immich’s website was fully rewritten using Immich's own UI component library. The redesigned site features a new blog, including a post about the latest mobile sync feature. Alongside the website-refresh, the platform's documentation is now available at docs.immich.app. For developers, a new API documentation at api.immich.app offers extended details on authentication, authorization, permissions, and a command palette for quick navigation, plus the ability to view request results live.
On the community front, data.immich.app now tracks member growth on both the Subreddit and Discord server. As a nostalgic celebration, Immich v2.0 is available for purchase on a physical DVD, with project merchandise offered in the Immich store to support the project.

Comments
physical media and software go go go! absolute fan of DRM-free approach.
It was only a matter of freedom, not price. Selling free software is OK, and
Immich proves it (exceptions apply.) It didn't have to be an unjust malware (I'm looking at YOU, GAFAM!)
Props to keep physical media alive in the age of the "you'll own nothing and be happy" scams (e.g. Game-Key Cards and other Defective by Design apparatus.)
Given the greatness of Immich, $100 is a steal! Now I just need to comb my attic to find my old DVD drive.
Congrats Immich! I'm so pleased to be a supporter of the project. Best Google Photos replacement, in my opinion.
