Sourcegraph unveils AI coding agents in early access for enhanced software development
Sourcegraph has rolled out AI coding agents to Cody, its AI coding assistant, designed to automate repetitive development tasks, aiming to enhance scalability for software teams. While AI cannot handle all aspects of development, it excels at managing routine coding tasks. Sourcegraph emphasizes that these AI agents are intended to support, not replace, human developers by handling monotonous enterprise software development tasks.
Currently, code review agents are accessible through an Early Access Program (EAP) via a waitlist, serving as a foundation for future agents like Code Migration, Testing, Documentation, and Notify Agents, which are expected to launch in the coming months. Developers can also create custom agents using Sourcegraph's Agent API, available via waitlist, leveraging the platform's robust infrastructure.
The new auto-edit feature extends beyond traditional autocomplete by suggesting edits both within the current file and across others, informed by recent changes and instant feedback from code review, testing, and documentation agents. This is part of a unified experience integrating code search, chat, and agents within editors, code review, and other development tools. This integration is enhanced by a new agentic RAG layer, ensuring greater accuracy.
Developers interested in exploring these AI agents and the Agent API can sign up for early access on Sourcegraph's website.
