Nintendo has finally revealed the new design for the Switch 2, set for a 2025 release

Nintendo has officially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 in a teaser video on its YouTube channel, showcasing a sleek, nearly all-black design that is larger than the original Switch. The console features a redesigned Joy-Con controller with a new attachment method and an additional button under the home button, though its function is yet to be disclosed.

The Switch 2 is scheduled for release in 2025, with more information to be announced during a Nintendo Direct event on April 2. It will support backward compatibility with existing Switch games, although some titles like Nintendo Labo may not work. A new Mario Kart game was also teased.

Nintendo will host hands-on events for the Switch 2 in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Toronto throughout April 2025, with ticket registration opening on January 17, 2025, via Nintendo's website.

So the joycons don't slide no more but seem attached by a magnet. And it has a larger screen, a faster processor, and longer battery life. So it's just an upgrade, not a big change from NES to SNES, or to N64, or to GameCube, or Wii, or Wii U. Giving it's the only console they're making, I was expecting much more.

Agreed, it’s clear that this isn’t a total generational leap, but rather reminds me of the jump from the DS to the 3DS imo. Gonna miss the clip sound on the JoyCons though.
