Files 3.9 update: New cards view layout, thumbnail sizes, improved details pane & more

The latest update to Files version 3.9 introduces a new Cards View layout, replacing the previous Tiles View and providing a more detailed display of file metadata, such as thumbnails, file names, types, sizes, and context-specific properties. This update also enhances contrast in the Grid View layout with accent-colored borders around selected items, improving visibility.

Thumbnail size synchronization ensures consistent scaling across various views, and the Details Pane now offers quick access to drive storage information. Users can now name shortcuts directly in the Create New Shortcut dialog, while Release Notes now pull changelogs from the Files website with a new accent-colored update button for better visibility.

Other improvements include better DPI clarity, an updated Tags Widget, enhanced JPEG-XR support, and auto-focus for new tabs. Users can now drag files from Recent Files, set Files as the default for .gz archives, and enjoy a cleaner Home Page, improved navigation, and Lucid Link v3 support, along with various bug fixes and improvements detailed in the official changelog.
