WordPress 6.6.2 maintenance release with bug fixes and performance enhancements
WordPress 6.6.2 is now officially available as a maintenance release. This update is recommended for all environments to ensure optimal performance and security. The release includes 15 bug fixes in the Core and 11 in the Block Editor, addressing issues such as unexpected CSS specificity changes affecting certain themes.
As a short-cycle update, WordPress 6.6.2 precedes the next major version, 6.7, scheduled for November 12, 2024. Sites with automatic background updates enabled will begin updating to 6.6.2 automatically. Users can also download the update from WordPress.org or update via the WordPress Dashboard by clicking “Updates” and then “Update Now.”
